This is the May-June 2019 issue of my Shroud of Turin News. I have fallen so far behind in this that I am posting a combined May-June issue. I have listed below linked news article(s) about the Shroud in May-June as a service to readers, without necessarily endorsing any of them.

News:
• "Shroud of Turin Used to Create 3D Copy of Jesus," Wonder World, May 3, 2018.

"In early 2018, Researchers in Rome unveiled a 3-D carbon copy of what Jesus looked like, based on the measurements of the Shroud of Turin"

I did not at first realise that this article was dated May 2018. But since I had not blogged about it then (I didn't know about it because it is a YouTube video), and there are no Shroud news articles of significance in May-June 2019 that I am aware of, I decided to post it. If you let it keep running the next video is: "The Shroud and the Jew: Barrie Schwortz at TEDx ViadellaConciliazione," May 2, 2013.

Editorial
Posts: In May-June I blogged only 4 new posts (latest uppermost):
"Allen, N: Turin Shroud Encyclopedia" - 16 June; "Casabianca, T., et al., 2019, `Radiocarbon Dating of the Turin Shroud: New Evidence from Raw Data,' Archaeometry, 22 March" - 29 May; "23 May 1989: On this day 30 years ago in the radiocarbon dating of the Turin Shroud" - 27 May; "`News and Editorial,' Shroud of Turin News, April 2019" - 19 May.

Comments: In May-June comments included:
Under my "`News and Editorial,' Shroud of Turin News, April 2019":

May 21, 2019 "Anonymous ... Thank you so much for your wonderful work! Your site is quite delightful. I have prayed for you and for your continuing efforts."
To which I replied:
"Thank you very much. It is nice to receive a positive comment when most of the comments I receive are negative ... I need prayer to Jesus, the Man on the Shroud, [to] ensure that: 1) this blog can continue, and 2) I (a 72 year-old) can continue."
This last point is no mere platitude-today 30 July, I attended the funeral of a friend who was ~3 years younger than me!

Under "Casabianca, T., et al., 2019, `Radiocarbon Dating of the Turin Shroud: New Evidence from Raw Data,' Archaeometry, 22 March":

"Very informative, your explanations of statistical analysis of the raw data support previous conclusions that 1988 radiocarbon dating of the Shroud were not only NOT VALID but a deliberate fraud. Skeptics will no longer have this «trump card» to discredit Shroud's authenticity ... Antero de Frias Moreira (Centro Português de Sindonologia)"
To which I replied:
"Thanks. If Tite and the laboratory leaders involved had disclosed in their paper their "data manipulation ... making results appear ... more definitive than they really ... [and] ... selecting ... the `best' data for publication and ignoring those that don't fit ... " then it wouldn't be fraud but then Nature wouldn't have published it! ... It won't bother them [skeptics]. They will ignore it as they do with all the other overwhelming evidence of the Shroud's authenticity. But on the other hand, how could they ignore this article in Archaeometry, the journal that Oxford radiocarbon dating laboratory Director, Edward Hall founded? And indeed "Published on behalf of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford"? This will add more [see 04Oct18] pressure on Oxford laboratory's current Director, Christopher Ramsey to ask Nature to retract the 1989 Nature article!

Updates In May-June, from memory, there were no significant updates in the background of my past posts.

Radiocarbon dating of the Shroud. In May-June, as can be seen above, I blogged two posts on this topic: On 27 May "23 May 1989: On this day 30 years ago in the radiocarbon dating of the Turin Shroud" and on 29 May "Casabianca, T., et al., 2019, `Radiocarbon Dating of the Turin Shroud: New Evidence from Raw Data,' Archaeometry, 22 March."

My book: [see 19May19] In May-June I continued writing Chapter 3, "The man on the Shroud." Because I

kept needing to contrast the evidence for the Shroud's authenticity with the evidence against the Shroud being a medieval forgery, I started a parallel Word document "Problems of the Forgery Theory" which will be a time-saving resource for my book.
